Fauna
Dedicated in loving memory to Federico Rodriguez aka Catar_sys. May your message continue to illuminate through the music you have left us.
Argentina has become one of the most compelling music scenes in the world. And within that tight community, Fauna has risen to become one of the most influential.
Fauna’s new album, the follow up to their 2008 debut La Manita de Fauna, is the result of both Argentina and constant touring. Influenced by the music they heard on the road, the album is an exploration in cumbia, dubstep, kuduro and more. Their sound has evolved, production grown in depth and range, and lyrics matured.
Manshines is a album in movement, written and produced in the free time in between tours across three continents, where they performed for crowds at festivals like Coachella, Roskilde, C/O Pop, Distortion and for audiences in over 50 cities.
Mixed and produced by Andrés Oddone and Frikstailers, with Daleduro and El Remolón providing beats, los pibes Fauna expand their vision of cumbia bass, tropical dubstep and kuduro made in Argentina.
Pioneers of global cumbia scene since 2003, hailing from Mendoza, Argentina, Fauna were the first artists signed to ZZK Records and immediately became the label's Trojan horses, banging down walls in 14 countries with their first release. In their La Manita de Fauna album, the rhyming and beatmaking duo of Color Kit (Cristian del Negro) and Catar_sys spread their ragga cumbia sound with lyrics that played with having fun and having consciousness, a portrait of life at the foothills of the Andes mountains.
Transmuting and growing, the message continues with Manshines, an album that was ready to be mixed when Catar_sys left the planet. This album is his legacy.
